Conversations Seasoned with Grace
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, open our hearts to speak with grace and wisdom. May our words reflect Your love and truth in every conversation.
"Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."
Colossians 4:5-6 (NIV)
REFLECT:
The message highlighted the Apostle Paul’s exhortation to the Colossians, urging them to engage with outsiders wisely and graciously. This passage is a call to intentionality in our interactions, ensuring that our words are not only truthful but also filled with grace. Pastor Carter emphasized that our conversations should be like a well-prepared meal, seasoned just right to bring out the best flavors.
In the dialogue with Raysha, Justin, and Weston, Pastor Carter demonstrated this principle. He listened attentively, allowing each person to share their beliefs and doubts without interruption or judgment. This approach opened the door for genuine dialogue and understanding. It was a reminder that our role is not to win arguments but to build bridges through grace-filled conversations.
Consider your recent conversations. Were they seasoned with grace? Did they reflect the love and wisdom of Christ? Todd encouraged us to be attentive listeners, understanding the stories and perspectives of others before speaking. This is how we reflect Jesus in our daily interactions.
Let this passage challenge you to be intentional with your words. Seek opportunities to speak life and hope into the lives of others. As you do, you’ll find that your conversations become a powerful tool for sharing the love of Christ.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will intentionally listen to someone outside my usual circle, seeking to understand their perspective and show them God's love through my attentiveness.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Gracious God, thank You for the gift of words. Help us to use them wisely, reflecting Your grace and truth in every conversation. May our interactions draw others closer to You. Amen.
