God’s Word Helps Us Make Wise Choices

OPENING PRAYER:

Jesus, I pray I would be filled with your presence today and experience your hope and peace, Amen.

READ: Psalm 119:11, Psalm 51:17

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. Psalm 119:11, Psalm 51:17

REFLECT:

Earlier in the week we talked about how God's word is refreshing to our hearts and souls in the intent that God wants more for us than we want for ourselves. God’s desire is always more freedom, more joy and shaping our character to reflect Jesus Christ to others.

The word of God is one way God helps us make wise choices that lead us away from sin. In the scriptures above we see how we can hide God’s word in our heart so that we might not sin, we see that the only real sacrifice that we can offer is our own broken heart.

APPLY:

When we get real and honest with God, surrendering our heart to Him is when the real work begins. When we understand that our hearts are broken and in desperate need of Jesus, we begin to see change take place. The greatest sacrifice we could ever offer God is our own broken heart.

With a surrendered heart when can we begin to place more of God’s word in our heart by memorizing scriptures that help us say no to temptations. We can read God’s word daily and meditate on it. We can walk alongside others by sharing God’s message of hope with them.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly father, help me grow in my faith by hiding your word in my heart and by spending more time with you. Amen.
