Easter in the Desert

BIG IDEA:
Experience Easter like never before.
TEACHING POINTS:
  1. We all experience deserts in our lives.
  2. The Bible is full of stories of people and their desert experiences.
  3. Jesus experienced His own desert.
  4. Jesus rose from the dead to give you and me power over the deserts in our lives.
SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 1:18-20 NIV
OPENING QUESTIONS:
  1. Did you find yourself living life last week in the reality of Jesus’ words from the cross, “It is finished?” Why or why not?
  2. What is one thing that you are thankful for from last week?
  3. What is something that was stressful or difficult this week and how can we help?

IN THE WORD:
  1. Read Paul’s words in Ephesians 1:18-20 NIV from two different translations.
  2. Have two people in the group retell the story in their own words.
  3. Paul told the Ephesians that he was praying that their hearts would be enlightened so they would know hope. What do you think that meant to them?
  4. What does this teaching tell us about God?
  5. What does this teaching tell us about people?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
  1. In a brief sentence or two, share with your group how you would describe the hope you have because of Jesus’ resurrection. When you were in a desert in your own life?
  2. How can we pray for you and for each other as we share about real hope in some way in the next week with someone who is in a desert?
MAKING IT PERSONAL:

Sign up this week at pathwaychurch.com/ukraine to come and package food (Saturday, April 23, 10-2) that will be sent to refugee camps and an orphanage in Eastern Europe, where Ukrainians displaced by the war are staying.
