Listening with Love

OPENING PRAYER:

Lord, as we study Your Word today, teach us to listen with love and compassion. May we be attentive to the needs of those around us and respond with Your grace. Amen.

READ: Luke 5:31-32 (NIV)

Jesus answered them, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.'"

In response to the Pharisees' criticism, Jesus explains His mission to reach those who recognize their need for Him.

Luke 5:31-32 (NIV)

REFLECT:

Jesus' response to the Pharisees reveals His heart for those who are spiritually sick and in need of healing. He came not for those who believed they were righteous, but for those who recognized their need for a Savior. This challenges us to consider how we view ourselves and others. Do we see ourselves as self-sufficient, or do we acknowledge our need for God's grace? Jesus' mission was to bring healing and restoration to those who were lost, and He calls us to join Him in this mission. This requires us to listen with love and compassion, to be attentive to the needs of those around us, and to respond with grace. As we reflect on this passage, let us be encouraged to approach others with humility and empathy, recognizing that we are all in need of God's healing touch. May we be willing to listen to their stories, to understand their struggles, and to offer the hope and healing that only Jesus can provide.

APPLY:

Practice active listening this week by engaging in a conversation with someone who may feel unheard. Show genuine interest in their story and offer your support and encouragement.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will grow closer to my one.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your compassion and grace. Help us to listen with love and to be attentive to the needs of those around us. May we be instruments of Your healing and hope in the lives of others. Amen.
