His Name is Peace

OPENING PRAYER:

Oh heavenly father, be with us this week and bless that whatever we take from this scripture that we will put into practice in a world that is so broken. Amen.

READ: Isaiah 9:6-7

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9:6-7

REFLECT:

People are often confronted by the things that are pushing them away from a life of eternity and peace with our heavenly father. Things like stress, anxiety, addiction, depression, discrimination and so many other things. With everything that has been happening these past couple years, we all must’ve felt these things. And, of course, there are people to look to for guidance. People like ourselves, the government, and our finances. But those things are shaky. And the one true living God is not. He will not be shaken. There is no more reliable place than in the arms of God through his son Jesus Christ. And through him you can have peace in the most hard circumstances.

APPLY:

Try taking a moment out of your day and look back on all your troubles. Trust that God will handle it. Stay in communication with him.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father God, guard us all with your love as we live out these words this week. Amen
