Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

OPENING PRAYER:

Spirit, dwell in me and bring to mind the things that I need to remember in order to trust and fully honor God with my life.

READ: Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

REFLECT:

When we come face to face with what God asks us to do, it is important to remember his faithfulness from before. This is often easier said than done, especially in the face of a situation that makes us fearful or calls us to step out of our comfort zone.

Scripture assures us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Our station in life changes often – seasons come and go and the places we find ourselves can pivot or change on a dime. Sometimes this is within our grasp and, often, it is beyond our decisions and out of our control.

APPLY:

It is important to mark the times that God has met us in our times of need. Those “Ebenezer stones” (1 Samuel 7:12) not only remind us that God is faithful to meet us, but they can remind us that he also uses us to meet others where they need it as well.

CLOSING PRAYER:

God, thank you for your faithfulness and for reminding us of who you are. Help us open our own hearts and the hearts of others because of your deeply-rooted love.
