Why Am I Here? For Eternity.

OPENING PRAYER:

Father, thank you for welcoming us to your throne today.

READ: 1 Timothy 6:6-7 (NIV)

“Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” 1 Timothy 6:6-7 (NIV)

REFLECT:

It is easy to get distracted by the things of this world, but we are not here forever. We were created to live with an eternal focus, and we do ourselves credit to stick to that.

In this world, the things people chase (money, status, satisfaction) are fleeting. It takes a concerted effort to not get distracted by these temporary accomplishments, but God created us for more.

APPLY:

As you go about your day, be aware of how you spend your time, energy, and resources. Make it a point to think about whether you are spending these precious things on temporary or eternal endeavors.

If you find yourself chasing after the things of this world, hold yourself accountable to remember that you can’t take it with you. Pray and seek community with others that will help keep your heart focused on eternity and live in a way that shows that is your priority and vision.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Father, fix our eyes on the eternal and guard our hearts from the fleeting things of this world.
