To Know and Be Known

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, help me to know you more. Teach me Your ways and open my heart to Your Love. Amen

READ: John 15:9 NKJV

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” John 15:9 NKJV

REFLECT:

When you abide in Christ you will find a perfect place where you can believe fully, trust completely, and hope unceasingly. When we abide in Him His love will ‘rub off on us’. Without Him there is no genuine love. Worldly love is self-motivated. What does it do for me? How can it make me feel special? Can it fulfill all my physical and emotional needs? Notice the trend. Me, me, me… True love is not receiving, it is giving.

Do you desire to abide more in Christ? Do you desire to love one another more and produce Kingdom fruit? Do you feel His Spirit calling you to an intimate relationship? Are you ready to take steps toward this relationship? If the answer is yes, apply the 4 Rs to knowing and being known.

APPLY:

The first R is to recognize your need for a closer relationship with Christ. Are you ready to take that step?

The second R is to repent of wasted time. How much time to we waste on vain activities? Time is something we spend and can’t get back. Often we use our time carelessly and think very little of its value. There’s a movie with Justin Timberlake called In Time. It’s a futuristic story when time is the currency of the day. The show really made me realize the value of time.

The third R is to faithfully read His Word and pray each day. Communication is vital to getting to know someone. As you spend time in His Word and prayer you will grow more in His character and love more deeply. To be known by God is to be chosen by God. Because of God’s love He chose us. It is only through God’s love that we truly can understand what it means to be known by Him. Because of love, we can know God better and to be fully known by Him.

The Fourth, is to remember. Continually recall His gifts and sacrifice and daily walk in His footsteps. “But the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26 NKJV

CLOSING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father; Keep my heart and mind aware of your daily presence. Help me to grow in Your Love and Your Word. Amen
