Forgiving the Unforgivable
OPENING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, as we approach a new day of this devotional, we ask for your presence and guidance. Open our hearts to receive your truth and transform us through your love. Today, as we explore the concept of forgiving the big things, may your grace empower us to let go of past hurts and extend forgiveness to our spouse, just as you have forgiven us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay me back what you owe me,' he demanded. His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.' But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt."
REFLECT:
In this continuation of the parable, the servant who had been forgiven a significant debt refused to extend the same forgiveness to a fellow servant. This story reminds us that we must be willing to forgive the big things in our marriage. Just as God has forgiven us of our enormous debts, we are called to release others from their debts towards us.
APPLY:
Consider any significant hurts or betrayals that have taken place in your marriage. Choose to extend forgiveness to your spouse, even if the offense feels insurmountable. Ask God to give you the strength and grace to let go of those hurts and to be an agent of healing and restoration in your marriage.

I will allow God’s grace to enable me to forgive my spouse.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank you for exemplifying forgiveness through the sacrifice of your Son. Give us the courage to forgive the big things in our marriage. May your grace flow through us, enabling us to release our spouse from any debts they may owe us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
