Christmas At The Movies - Week 2 - Day 1

OPENING PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, every day is a gift. Thank you for today and another opportunity to shine the light of Jesus to my family, friends, and Community. Amen.

READ: Luke 2:8-11 (NIV)

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10. But the angel said to them, "do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”

REFLECT:

What must it have been like to witness such an event as a Shepherd standing on that hillside with the radiance of the glory of the Lord surrounding them and the whole host of heaven rejoicing and praising God.  Awestruck?  The Bible says at first they were terrified! But then the angel reassured them "Don't be Afraid".  The shepherds’ fear turned to joy as the angel announced the birth of the Messiah.  Look what God has done for us! The good news about Jesus is that he comes to all, including the plain and ordinary, to take away our sin.  He comes to anyone who will be humble enough to accept him.  Jesus whispers to our hearts "Don't be afraid"; Don't be afraid to share my love!  Don’t be afraid to share my goodness!

APPLY:

Christ Jesus paid the price for sin and opened the way to peace with God.  He offers us more than temporary political or physical changes. He offers us new hearts that will last for eternity.  Whoever you are, whatever you do, you can have Jesus in your life.  He accepts you just as you are.  Don't be afraid to accept him.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, I give you all praise. Thank you for revealing yourself to me today and every day.  I pray that your Holy Spirit would continue to guide me in every way.   Amen.

WORSHIP:
