Not Just Checking the Box

Chris and Angela Roy are fully-engaged in the Unfinished initiative and are ready with open hearts for God. The Roys have attended the Goddard Campus since its launch in 2012. They jumped into volunteering right away. Angela is on the weekend worship team and also leads worship in The Neighborhood. Chris volunteers as a Connection Leader and serves locally with community transformation initiatives. Chris and Angela are also Home Team leaders. Together with their five children, Chris and Angela are actively involved in "following Jesus, in community, for others."

In 2015, Chris and Angela were leading their Home Team through a study that talked about not just "checking the box" when it came to following Jesus. Both were independently praying about ways that Jesus would take them out of their comfort zones when Chris proposed the idea of selling their house and moving to Regency Mobile Home Park in Goddard. Soon after, a friend asked Angela if she had considered moving to Regency. Over the course of several months, Regency kept coming up. The couple decided to move forward and put their house on the market. When the house sold within a week, Angela said, "That was God, very point-blank saying, 'Follow me. This is what I have for your future.'"

Since then, the Roys also made an audacious commitment to Unfinished in March of 2017. They want to fully rely on God every day. When completing their Unfinished commitment card, Angela and Chris prayerfully and intentionally pledged an amount that they knew would make day-to-day finances uncomfortable. True to His promises, God has been faithful to provide.

Chris said, "If you're on the fence, if you're thinking, 'How do I start? How do I have the money to start? What do I start with?' The important thing is to just start. God has called us to partake in this part of the Kingdom with Him. To fully trust and fully rely on Him requires us to understand that all things come from Him. When it comes to your giving journey, if you haven't begun yet, just begin somewhere."
